In a continued effort to champion workplace wellness and preventive healthcare, 365Asia organised a successfully Women’s Health Talk for the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) on 7 October 2025 under its 365Asia Health Talk series of events. The interactive session, attended by 50 female prison officers and staff, focused on key aspects of women’s health — from bone strength to breast health — and encouraged participants to take proactive steps toward long-term well-being.

This meaningful event was part of 365Asia’s ongoing commitment to promote holistic healthcare awareness across workplaces in Singapore. By bringing together leading medical professionals, financial advisors, and healthcare partners, the talk offered practical insights and valuable support for women to better manage their health and healthcare costs for their future.

Women’s Health Talk – Empowering Women Through Knowledge And Care

The lunchtime session featured two distinguished guest speakers — Dr Daphne Lee, an Endocrinologist from Dr Daphne Lee Endocrine and Diabetes Medical Clinic, and Dr Tan Yia Swam, a Breast Surgeon from Breast Friend Surgery & Wellness. Both doctors are well-respected experts in their respective fields and passionate advocates for women’s health education.

Dr Daphne Lee delivered an insightful talk titled Osteoporosis Uncovered: What Everyone Should Know.” She highlighted how osteoporosis, often referred to as the “silent disease,” can progress unnoticed until a fracture occurs. With women being at higher risk — especially after menopause — Dr Lee emphasised the importance of early screening, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, weight-bearing exercises, and regular medical checkups and osteoporosis medications. She also shared practical lifestyle tips to maintain healthy bones and reduce the risk of falls and fractures.

Dr Tan Yia Swam, in her engaging presentation on Breast Cancer Prevention and Early Detection, underscored the significance of regular self-examinations and timely mammograms. She discussed how cancer occurs, how breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women in Singapore, but also one of the most treatable when detected early. Dr Tan encouraged participants to know their bodies, seek medical advice for any unusual changes, and not to delay screenings due to fear or stigma.

Both talks were followed by lively Q&A sessions, where the attendees enthusiastically sought advice from the speakers on their respective topics.

Supporting Health Beyond Medicine – Managing Cost Of Medical Treatments And Financial Planning

In addition to the medical talks, representatives from PIAS (Professional Investment Advisory Services) were invited to address questions about health insurance and financial planning. Their short sharing helped participants better understand how insurance coverage can complement preventive healthcare by reducing financial stress in the event of medical emergencies.

By bridging the gap between healthcare and financial literacy, the session reminded participants that overall wellness includes both physical and financial preparedness. PIAS representatives also provided practical examples of how women can plan ahead to safeguard themselves and their families against unexpected health expenses.

Complimentary Health Screening By AsiaMedic

The event was made even more comprehensive through complimentary health screening provided by AsiaMedic. Participants were offered basic checks such as blood pressure, BMI, and glucose levels, allowing them to gain a clearer understanding of their current health status.

AsiaMedic’s participation added great value to the programme, as the screenings served as an immediate, tangible reminder of the importance of preventive healthcare. Many attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to receive instant feedback on their health and advice on follow-up steps if any irregularities were detected.
