The Secretary for Health of Hong Kong SAR, Professor Lo Chung-mau, met multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in Zurich, Switzerland to present policy measures aimed at strengthening Hong Kong’s drug evaluation, clinical trials, and biomedical innovation capabilities.
- Measures presented include “primary evaluation” for new drugs, the Greater Bay Area International Clinical Trial Institute, and the planned Hong Kong Centre for Medical Products Regulation.
- The roundtable took place on 20 May 2026 in Zurich; the delegation is scheduled to return to Hong Kong on 22 May 2026.
- Companies were encouraged to use Hong Kong’s “1+” drug approval mechanism and participate in clinical trials in Hong Kong, including utilisation of Hong Kong-registered drugs and medical devices in Greater Bay Area Mainland cities.
