Over 630 Singapore GPs Trained to Manage Mental Health Conditions

Singapore has expanded its primary care mental health network, with more than 630 general practitioners participating in the Mental Health General Practitioner Partnership by end-2025 to improve community-based diagnosis and management of complex mental health conditions.

  • Programme Growth: The number of participating GPs increased from more than 520 in 2024 to over 630 in 2025, while 23 of 28 polyclinics now provide mental health services, with full polyclinic coverage expected within three years.
  • Clinical Support: Since 1 January 2026, Ministry of Health care protocols for major depressive disorder and generalised anxiety disorder have guided GPs in diagnosis, risk assessment and personalised management, including referrals for psychotherapy, counselling and community interventions.
  • Community Access: Participating GPs can access lower-cost psychiatric medications, Government-funded Community Intervention Teams (COMIT), and psychiatrist-led Assessment and Shared Care Teams (ASCAT) for more severe or urgent cases.
