Insilico Medicine Initiates Phase III Trial for AI-Discovered IPF Drug Candidate

Insilico Medicine has initiated a Phase III clinical trial evaluating Rentosertib (formerly ISM001-055/INS018_055), an orally administered small-molecule TNIK inhibitor for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

  • Trial Design: The randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III study will enrol approximately 320 patients across China to evaluate the efficacy and safety of once-daily Rentosertib over a 52-week treatment period.
  • AI-Driven Discovery: Rentosertib was discovered using Insilico Medicine’s proprietary generative AI platform, combining AI-based target identification with AI-assisted small-molecule design.
  • Primary Endpoint: The study will assess the annual rate of decline in Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), a key measure of lung function, with additional endpoints evaluating disease progression.
