The Ministry of Health, the National Cancer Centre Singapore and research institutions have launched clinical studies to evaluate the use of multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood tests and targeted cancer screening approaches in Singapore.

• Clinical Study: A study involving 1,000 participants at higher risk of cancer due to genetic factors or pre-cancerous conditions will begin in the second half of 2026 to assess whether MCED tests can identify early-stage cancers.
• Screening Approach: MCED tests analyse tumour DNA and other cancer markers through a single blood draw to screen for multiple cancers simultaneously.
• Research Objective: Separate studies led by the Research Institute for Cancer Prevention, Screening and Early Detection (RISE) will also examine targeted screening methods for cancers linked to metabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure.
