AstraZeneca has entered into a strategic collaboration with CSPC Pharmaceutical Group to obtain ex-China rights to a weight management portfolio comprising eight programmes targeting obesity and type 2 diabetes.
- Portfolio scope: The agreement covers eight programmes, including four lead assets developed using CSPC’s artificial intelligence capabilities, led by SYH2082, a once-monthly injectable dual agonist of the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, which is entering Phase 1 trials.
- Territorial rights: AstraZeneca holds exclusive development and commercialisation rights for all eight programmes outside Greater China, while CSPC retains rights for China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
- Technology access: AstraZeneca will also gain access to CSPC’s LiquidGel sustained-release delivery platform for once-monthly dosing, with the option to apply the platform to selected assets within its broader pipeline.
