The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), AstraZeneca, and PureHealth have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to activate a Rare Diseases Centre of Excellence in Abu Dhabi.

• Clinical Focus: The centre will serve as a hub for diagnosis, treatment, lifelong care, research and education, with a focus on rare metabolic, nephrological and haematologic disorders.
• Strategic Collaboration: The initiative builds on Abu Dhabi’s life sciences ecosystem by leveraging the Emirati Genome Programme, AstraZeneca’s global rare disease expertise and PureHealth’s healthcare network.
• Partnership Framework: The organisations will collaborate on centre activation, integrated patient care, research and clinical trials, real-world evidence generation, education and governance.
